Living the Connection: An Invitation

posted on April 13

Dear Friends,

As we move towards a likely Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference in November, and a new date for General Conference in 2024, a few of you have reached out to ask if there is anything your church needs to do at this time. The Cabinet has produced an Expanded Profile for both churches and clergy to complete over the next few years to ensure that good communication and consultation takes place for all the churches in our continuing United Methodist Church. As you know, we are a strong connection with a great variety of people and we have long been found to be a group that finds richness and depth in its diversity. No two United Methodist Churches are identical, but all share a strong faith in the Risen Christ and a deep calling to invite others into discipleship. That will never change!

I feel we can benefit from a time of gathering to talk about the future, even though the next General Conference is now a few years away and there are no steps your church needs to take at this time. Even though no current action is needed, perhaps a time together will benefit your church leaders who may have questions or who may be receiving pressure from outside groups. You will have a place to ask your questions and to receive the information your church may need to calm any anxiety that may have emerged due to the postponement of General Conference.

We are planning presentations to be held throughout the Northern Piedmont District in the month of May. You are invited to attend, on any date or place that works best for you:

Sunday, May 1, 2022, 2:00-3:15 pm  (Northern)
Sanctuary, Main Street (Reidsville) UMC
221 South Main Street
Reidsville, NC 27320

Wednesday, May 11, 2022, 6:00-7:15 pm  (Central)
Fellowship Center, Christ (Greensboro) UMC
410 North Holden Road
Greensboro, NC 27410

Sunday, May 15, 2022, 2:00-3:15 pm  (Southern)
Sanctuary, Rehobeth (Greensboro) UMC
4475 Rehobeth Church Road
Greensboro, NC 27406

I hope you will mark your calendars for whichever date, time, and location works best for you. I look forward to each event, and I cherish whenever we can be together to work under the cross of Christ and in the light of the Resurrection, which we shall soon celebrate with joy!

Blessings of Peace and Health,
Bev
